California State Senator Janet Nguyen is proud to announce that she has been selected by the Aspen Institute as a 2015 Rodel Fellow. In this capacity, Senator Nguyen will participate in a public leadership program that nurtures bipartisanship, political civility, and the ideals of democracy. Senator Nguyen will be joined by twenty-four of the nation’s rising political stars, including members of the President’s Cabinet, U.S. Congress and Governors, as well as city and statewide officials.
“I am honored and thrilled to have been chosen to participate in the Rodel Fellowship Program. Opportunities like this are invaluable because they not only foster fellowship among elected officials but also help us find better ways to fulfill our mission as public servants,” said Senator Janet Nguyen.
Admission into the Rodel Fellowship Program is by invitation only, for elected officials between the ages of 25 and 50. Each year, 24 emerging elected officials, 12 Republicans and 12 Democrats are chosen to participate. Following their selection, fellows participate in a 24-month program that focuses on leadership training that explores various philosophies, viewpoints, and strategies.
“Each of the 24 members of the 2015 Class brings to the table a unique set of personal and professional experiences that will allow us to see things from a different perspective. The next two years will unquestionably be a great learning experience for my Rodel Classmates and me and I am excited to begin this worthwhile journey,” said Senator Janet Nguyen.
Since its inception in 2005, nearly 250 elected officials have participated in the Aspen Institute’s Rodel Fellowship program.
