The spirit of Thanksgiving took center stage on Friday morning as California State Senator Janet Nguyen distributed one-hundred turkeys to four Orange County community organizations. The turkeys, provided by the Golden State Water Company, will be redistributed by the organizations to residents in need.
“Today’s turkey distribution truly captures the meaning of Thanksgiving. There is no better way to express gratitude for our blessings than by ensuring that families in need enjoy a Thanksgiving meal of their own,” said Senator Janet Nguyen. “For helping us ensure that one-hundred families can take part in this tradition, I am very thankful for the Golden State Water Company’s generosity.”
The Garden Grove Rotary Club, the Kiwanis Club of Santa Ana, the Asian American Senior Citizen Association and the Vietnamese American Community of Southern California were the four selected community organizations that received the turkeys.
“We appreciate this partnership with Senator Janet Nguyen and hope that today’s event will both provide holiday meals for those in need and raise awareness of the issue of hunger in our community,” said Ronald Moore, Golden State Water’s Operation Gobble project leader. “Operation Gobble has been a Golden State Water tradition for 25 years, and we have partnered with elected officials and community leaders to distribute more than 216,000 turkeys since the program’s inception.”
Residents who are interested in receiving a free turkey can contact the abovementioned organizations to inquire how to they can receive a free turkey. Operation Gobble has been a Golden State Water tradition for 25 years.
